I thought it would be fun if I took a moment each month to let you know what things are currently striking my fancy, so here goes the October installment!
Song: Nothin’ Like You by Dan + Shay. I think the song is really sweet.
Book: Sense and Sensibility by Jane Austen. Okay, I’m on a serious Jane Austen kick. What can I say? It’s all too easy to read the next book in my giant volume when I finish each one. I plan to finish with Pride and Prejudice after I’m done with this one. I really like how well I can envision the conversations and happenings playing out, since I recently read a modernized version of Sense and Sensibility, so the characters and plot are somewhat fresh in my mind. It makes it easier to follow along with the storyline and really invest in it.
Verse: Isaiah 40:29-31: “He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” This has been one of my favorites for a really long time now. My freshman roommate actually painted it on the inside of a mug she gave me, which I use every day at work. It’s a nice reminder of the truth I need to keep close to my heart– that I will get tired and weary, but will have my strength renewed if I lean on the Lord instead of trying to do things myself.
Quote: “We make a living by what we get; we make a life by what we give.” -Sir Winston Churchill.
Food: Chai Spice Pear Oatmeal. Not only was this easy to whip up and grab from the fridge for a quick breakfast, but the flavors worked really well together (much to my surprise). It made me realize I should be more willing to think outside the box about my breakfast food, since I tend to stick to the same tried-and-true staples.
TV Show: Fixer Upper. My parents and sister like this one, too, so we watch it together sometimes, and I got hooked. I won’t lie; I watched the entire first season on Netflix in about three days. And it has, of course, inspired me to think of ways to improve my own space.
Memory from last month: My cousin got married! The wedding was so beautiful, but I really just liked getting to be a part of the whole day, spending time with family, being a part of such a special celebration, such an important milestone in my cousin’s life. I felt honored to be a part of it.
Now it’s your turn. What are some of your favorite things?
